project polo stage 3 56k'ers beware

Post by mk2keel »

Right, had the polo in a barn for a lil while now, meaning i could work on her easily and i had electricity and water at hand. I decided it would be cheaper for me to prime her instead of apply an undercoat of black so thats what i am doing. Feedback appreciated.

ooooh... shiny

the sill that has been the bane of my life since febuary

So thats basically how its going for the mo, as soon as that sill is welded up then i am going to get the wing, drivers door and bumper back on and finished ready for the respray which will probably be in the summer.
Next things to get done are the DTM wingmirrors and beesting aerial, then after this i will get the rear bumper and have that ready.

I have made up a final spec list for when she is completed

Beasting aerial with old recess smoothed
Smoothed delocked boot

debadged grille
Bad look grille spoiler smoothed into bonnet
Full respray in gloss black
In pro "crystal" rear lights
clear/crystal indicators
side repeaters smoothed off
polished rocker cover
bonnet lifters
rubstrips removed
All trim removed

Interior

MK3 G40 interior
stealth shelf
Some speakers in the front and 2 in the shelf (not decided yet)
Club polo/porka stickers
VWMotorsport stickers that came with the car that i cant get off
A ally tax disk holder that came with the car
A new gearknob gaiter (dont know what yet)
Shiny gear knob
Headlining sprayed black

Chassis

70MM Jamex lowering kit
Uprated ARB mounts
Powerflex bushes
239mm vented front disks with braided hoses all round
Some form of strut brace
Rear chassis stiffened (bar welded onto rear beam)

Performance

Engine decoked (sort of performancy)
New gaskets all round (/\ /\)

Good effort mate, reminds me of my car before it was painted.Ive got that rocker cover now, where did you get yours from?Get it finished soon, im looking forward to seeing the results. Also i would strongly advise the use of highbuild [yellow] primer[putty], its brilliant and will take out minor ripples in the panels. :D

primer filler, yeah i know i have used it underneath the grey primer. it is also more reactive than basic primer hence why it is covered.

Cheers for the comments
