When did they stop producing the VW Polo 1.6GLX

Post by davidw »

I am looking at buying a used Polo and there is one that I am interested in but it is listed as a 1997 P Reg 1.6 GLX, but all the info I can find is that the GLX was only made in an N Reg. Does anyone know if this is correct? If so was the replacement to the GLX made to the same spec, I am just wary of buying a car that is not what its advertised to be, but if its just called by a different model name, then I suppose there's no problem. Any ideas?

welcome to the forum David there is a possability it is a late registered car if it says GLX on the logbook chances are it will be one you could always ask a dealer to check VW's service records for you.

Heh, i own a 1.6 glx in black and its p reg, there were 2 models made i think, single point injection early models in 96, and muti point injection on later models, ie 1997. So i guess its advisable to go for a later one as i assume they must be at least a tiny bit better. Watch out for dodgy gearboxes though.

I'm going to be selling mine as soon as i find an appropriate 1.4 16v if you're intereseted.
