Nah mate!!! DEAD EASY!
What i did was put some cellotape around the outside of both my rear lights, den stuck loads of newspaper around each rear light and a bit of paper around the light ... you have to make sure that wen you put the newspaper on its taped down properly n stuff, just to make sure when your spraying the lights, the tint spray doesn't get to your bodywork, i stuck lots of newspaper and got a tiny bits of the tint spray on my bodywork lol, cant see it unless u go near to the car but you can remove it with some Spirit.
If you go an automotive shop, ask them for "Taillight Tint Spray" ... you get different colors, green, blue red and black.
=) .... It was £12.99 but i said to the guy what discount you gonnu do me, so i got it for £11.50
That £11.50 got the car a different look, cheap ... and you can remove the tint if you dont like it later on, easy to do is well, and you dont have to fork out money for new rear lights either!
Good luck matey =)

I'll post some pics of my rear lights hopefully later this week if i can, yeh ... the lights still shine through and everything as normal.
The reverse light and everything works great even though i've put more than 2 coats over the rear lights. The best thing is when you go close to the rear lights it doesn't look liked they've bin done up, they look like they're factory smoked, definately a mod worth doing.
