Can anyone help....

Post by r_penny23 »

Hi All

Well after hard saving over the winter months ready to actually do something to my pride and joy, I woke this morning to find some thieving c*?T has nicked my passenger wing mirror housing and mirror. I've got to say it but I really thought people in our scene wouldnt sink that low.

Im now left with with either going to VW to get another (I actually like the standards after contemplating getting after market ones) and then getting it sprayed.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement besides visiting my local dealer or any other ideas? Im also needing to find a good garage in the South West to sort it.

cheers

sorry to hear about the mirror etc

Just cos its a gti, doesn't mean its someone in the dub scene, could equally be someone with a random mk5 polo or even worse some chav who wants to bodge it onto their nova

Might be worth asking vagparts or some of the specialist vw breakers in the back of the vw mags, as im sure some will be breaking a mk5 polo.

Its not actually a GTI, its a 1.4 16v. Thanks for the suggestions, how much do you think I should be looking to pay for the housing, or is it just worth buying the whole mirror?

The housing on its own is £37 for the top part and £7 for the underneath plastic trim bit.

Mine got taken off by a lorry a few weeks ago.:(

I've eventually got a whole mirror today from a local scrappy for £32, its in black put it will just mean I'll have to prime and paint it myself, which at least will save me a bit of cash.

Thanks for the advice. :)
