Polo 1.2 (Dec 2002) - Exhaust emmissions warning lamp

While drving my car today, the "Exhaust Emissions Warning Lamp " has lite up and remains on. What should I look out for and Can I still drive the vehicle or not.

Please can someone advise me on the steps to follow

Hiya mate

The same thing happened to me and it turned out to be a faulty sensor which was replaced under warranty. A common problem I believe. Best thing to do is book it into your local dealer and just drive steady for now just in case it turns out to be something else.
