Sound deadening/engine noise

Post by PhilGTi »

Hi ive noticed a few 6N2's have a engine deadening layer under the bonnet, does this make much difference to the noise from the engine?

How much is it? And how hard to fit?

Did all the the Mk5's come with this.

Cos mines aint got it and never had it when i got it, Mines is a 1.4 8v

It has leccy mirrors & Sunroof but no Central locking or leccy windows so maybee its one of the cheaper models. (even though i got ripped off big time)

Well mine has all of the extras, leccy mirrors + windows, central locking, fully colour coded and yet no sound deadening. I think that none of the 8v's have it. Mine is soon to get it tho

My 1.0 never had under-bonnet sound deadening; so you could hear that wonderful sewing machine noise!

The GTi does however, though I'm contemplating removing it.

Why would you want to remove it?

noise!

Post by jon_poloV »

most people like lots engine noise, depends tho if you add for eg induction kit the noise is what people want so thats poss why people would take it off, also if you are looking for one go to a scrappy, they should sell one for peanuts.

I wanna buy it but ive spent so much in so little time. Damn why do things have to cost money???

My car was standard 3 weeks ago, since then ive done the following:

- RS4 Wheels + Toyo Tyres
- Eibach 30mm Pro Springs
- GTi Front Grill
- GTi Lower and side grills
- Fog lights + Fog Switch
- GTi Spoiler
- GTi Splitter

Damn im broke now.. not too bad for a student tho working 1 day aweek without help from parents
