Lowering

Post by PhilGTi »

How long did your springs take to settle down to there correct height and stuff.. jus outta interest. Ive hardly drove my car since it was lowered. It dont seem to really be much lower then before, was wondering if it takes time?

This is the same car, with the same springs, only after a little time...

It has the same setup as mine!

i aint gonna lie to you... a 40mm drop is nothing let alone a 30mm drop....

things get worse when you do the drop on just springs and not uprated shocks....

i wouldn't be optimistic about the car getting much lower than the way it is currently... but time will tell....

I had the Eibach Pro-Kit springs on mine initially and they didn't make much of a difference too...even with a tonne of rubble in the boot to bed it down a bit...no seriously!

In the end the kind people at JBS replaced them with the Sportline kit which should lowered it by 50mm but I think it is less than that currently...more 35-40mm...

I didn't have the springs on long but I had done some miles in it...couple of hundred with the rubble in the back...still had't really made much of a difference...hope this helps...may be not what you want to hear...sorry!

the apex springs on mine did sit the car lower
and made the ride better

thing it took a couple of weeks to settle down though

bearing in mind my 300-400 miles a week

plus sitting mates in the car lol

Ive done about 30miles since i got it done now and it seems to be settling down nicely. There is about a 2cm gap between the arch and the wheel still but it had about 6cm before :D. Looks just about right, maybe 5-10mm more wud be perfect. But i guess with 2/3 people in the car it will be like that?

Ive not had anyone in the car since i got it done, so maybe that would help it along a little? Gotta go pick my gf up tomorow night, which is about 30miles each way, gunna welly it there and back.

The biggest improvement i would have to say is motorway driving, the car seems to be alot more "together" now. If the car stays the way it is ill be a little gutted, should have got -50mm springs. Doh!

Takes 200-300 miles togo to 30mm according to the shop that fitted them, with them being such stiff springs they take some abuse to settle down. They said that they would fit sport springs if they didnt get any lower.
