Help

Post by n3oNx »

Hi guys.

I'm from Portugal and I need to buy 3 male IDE connectors to make a custom IDE cable. The problem is that I can't find any store here in Portugal that has those pieces.

I was wondering if anyone knows a store that sells that piece and send it to Portugal or if someone could send it to me.

Best regards.

um........ sounds wierd, not exactly sure what you're wanting to do with that

however, if they ship internationally, somewhere such as Maplin - our answer to Radio Shack that actually out-survived it, supplying any and every electrical item you can conceive of and some you cant - should have stuff like that in stock (they still carry 13-pin circular DIN sockets for Atari ST monitors, so they should have IDE plugs!)

www.maplin.co.uk or something like that. or if you're ever over here they have a widespread chain of stores.

happy hunting!

I wan't to make an external HD case wich can connect to PC via USB 2.0 and to Playstation Network Adapter via IDE. The thing is that both IDE->USB2.0 converter and PS2 Network Adapter have Female IDE plugs, therefore I need male plugs to connect all together.

PS: maplin doesn't have it

no?

i was taking a quick look for you, but the website played me around and i couldnt connect to the right page...

pity. sorry :(

if you can stand for it to be a little less convenient than a one-wire solution, i do know they sell both standard IDE cables (which should work with the network adaptor????) and a readymade IDE-to-USB cableverter.

I don't think you understaind me.

I have:
- a PS2 network adapter with a female plug
- a ide to usb2.0 converter with a female plug
- a hard drive with a male plug

What I wan't to do is to have the hard drive always in the external case always connected to the ide to usb2.0 converter.

This leaves one end of the IDE cable. this end will connect to the PS2 NA. When I want to plug the external case to the PC I switch the ide to usb2.0 converter on. :P

maybe this will help you to understand

http://www.area450.com/hardwaremods/har ... 0-usb.html

The only difference is that this guy wanted to connect the HD to the DVD player and I want to connect to the PS2 Network Adpater (alsso he used a 2 female 1 male cable and I want a 2 male 1 female cable).

I had a PS2 in the car with a Dietz 1212 adapter but too many people found out about it so I took it out because I can't be arsed with the car getting broken into for something silly like that. I rarely used it anyway. Golf flip key was fairly easy although i've got to say i'm currently having a couple of problems with the remote central. I'm sure i'll sort it out though
Are you talking about this post? This dietz adapter is for the power supply or something :)
