Insurance?

Post by Ross »

Hey guys I was wondering what you all are paying to insure your Polo's? I'm 19 and my main ride is a 69 Bug but come winter I really want a MK3 Coupe to drive around in but I know that because of my age insurance probably going to be killer so I'm kind of looking for some idea's.

I have a 9n 1.9 TDi sport and pay out £2000 at 17. Tescos aint bad or maybe go through the back of PVW there are a few in there who look good.

I'm with Privilege.

I'm the main driver, with the policy in my Mam's name on the GTi. I'm 20, and it's currently costing me £616.

I'm 18, with CIS under my dad's name, mum second driver, me third driver and anyone insured with family's permission. Mine's a mk2 hatchback 1.05 and I'm paying £434.
Elephant seem to be giving me the best quotes under my own name though, about £650, whereas the cheapest I can find elsewhere is well over £1000.

How is it you go about getting insured under a parent's name? I have a couple of mates who do it but I've never tried.

what do you pay for the bug at the moment?

I'm 19 with 2years NCB and it's £485 tpft on my mk3 coupe. That's with Norwitch Union Direct.

clicky

dunno if this is of any help to you... It's a big list of insurance companies that I've yet to sort out with recommendations.

well if you get a 1.0 hatchy that's only group 4 insurance, which is pretty cheap. not group-1-corsa-or-panda cheap, but doesnt exactly kill you. a 1.3 coupe i think is 6, which at the time i got the hatch was still kind of in reach, it was another 10% extra or so. GT will be group 8 (?) which is probably sliding towards serious money for you in your position. G40...... forget it :D

either group 4 or 6, its certainly gotta be better than whatever a 69 sedan costs you. i got quoted on one once for a laff (online ;)) as there was one on sale round the corner.... my eyes were out on sticks!

28 (at time of quote) year old male, 11 years ncb in a high risk area for my mk1 1.1lx £204 with Budget Insurance Service's

edited to add this quote was for tpft and not a classic car policy, although I may well try for a classic policy this year to see if there's any real differance in price.

My Bug costs me £420 TPFT and I seriously doubt I could insure a Polo for anywhere near this cheap, the problem is that because its a classic policy I don't get a no claims bonus.

however you've probably got "driving experince" which you could wangle you a bit of a discount with the insurance people...

Well yeah, I guess I'll just have to see and even if I can't afford to run a Polo, no loss I've still got my cheap to insure Beetle :P
