heater matrix

right,my car was recently loosing water but i couldnt see owt anywhere and the symptoms werent textbook head gasket ones,then i started smellin the coolant in the heater vents which worried me a bit,i took it to a garage whove said its the matrix behind the dash and the dash will hav to come out..all in all £600 which seemed a bit much to me. does anyone know if this can be done with dash in or am i just gonna hav to fork some £££££ out and stop bin tight, cheers.rich

i know your right,just seems like a daunting job, but £600 seems a little more daunting somehow,german swedish have em for next to nowt,looks like that may be my only option,cheers fella
