Squeeking dash

Post by david burton »

I thought this would be a common post on here, but when I searched for the terms "squeek + dash" nothing came up!

Both my bird's dash and mine squeek when going over rough ground - very very annoying, and intermittent. If you press the heater controls hard, all is fine....

I hate squeeks, so has anyone fixed this, and how easy is it to remove the centre bit?

cheers guys

had the same in mine - used to push bits in on the dash and shut it up

the rear view mirror does it too

haha you can grow to love it and have it as a familiar comforting thing of course..

my mum hated all the little noises that poppy made which i had stopped even conciously noticing.... it was Grate :D especially as it wound her up so much her demands for lifts fell off

apparently the steering column squeaks when half turned! (etc)

I get this too, I think its a bit of movement in most of the dash. Mine definately feels like its been taken apart at some stage. I expect taking it to bits then putting bits of rubber between everything would sort it, but then again who can be arsed. :?

LOL!

the dash one - get some rubber gromets from halfrauds and shove one between the dash front and that helps! you'll know where I mean if you have a feel on the flat bit in front of the dials!

as fr the dials - I might shove some wd40 between the heater controls....

and the seat thing - yes it's annoying!!!!

i get all kinds of squeeks and rattles in mine, the rear view mirror, dial sorround and seat runner thing and just general nasty noises, mine helped if i lowered the adjustable steerin column and put a rubber grommet thing in it the adjusted back up to the top and it stopped most of the dials rattling,i just put it down to it bin a 7yr old motor really.

got a new rattle that sounds like a pissed off bee some where from the passenger side, though you have to be doing 110 to hear it

(was seeing how fast mine would go and 110 seems like the answer, or i was running out of road... kinda odd, my 8v would do the same speed)
