The actual steering wheel yes. The splines are the same it bolts straight on.

The slipring for the horn and airbag no. I having issues with that already!
it would be sick if you could get the steering wheel buttons work!

did you buy it new?

horny should be easy?

air bag, but a resistor across it to take out light?
Im thinking about somehow making the buttons at least "light up"

No i got it off a bloke on the club lupo facebook page.

Nah i want to actully make the airbag work. It should work. Im putting it down to the slipring atm. If not i will try a MK4 slip ring.

Resistor across it is the easy way out. I dont do that!!

Well after getting pissed of with the airbag light being on and the slipring making a clicking noise i thought i better have a look and fix it.

So i took the whole thing to bits again as you can see here -

Image

This was all a little bodged to be honest. Thats what happens when you buy something off of clublupo!!

Anyway i couldnt figure why the airbag light was on tbh all the wiring looked absolutely fine! So i decided to wire up my orginal slipring from the original steering wheel. So i went about taking the connector appart to solder the wires from the new airbag. Straight away comparing it i found the problem!!

Here is my orginal one -

Image

And the one that came with the new steering wheel -

Image

As you can see its missing the coil out the plug and the wires are not connected to anything! that was never going to work!

and here it is after i soldered the wires into the plug -

Image

ive also re soldered all the other wires on the back of the airbag too! they are all pukka now! I then reset the vagcom fault and the airbag light is off!! so anyone that says the airbag wont work can go f*ck there selfs!

Here is the finished item -

Image

And with the leather -

Image

Ive also brought a chrome light switch just to finish it off!

And the abs pump has near on given up so i need to get a new one or take the one thats on there appart!

Thats all for now

What ABS pump error are you getting?

If its outside specifications, thats an easy fix. I did greg's yesterday and it only took an hour 8)

Well the error that's causing the dash light to come one Is the sensor on the drivers side wheel. But this has nothing to so with the noise the pump is making!! Here is a video -

That doesnt sound healthy. You might have an air lock in the pump.

Not yet gunna wait for it to break. i first thought it was my release bearing. it only does it when you move from a standstill or at a standstill.

I will just replace it

Plenty on eBay at the moment

You must however ensure you get a pump ending in 207 and controller ending in C as the GTi has a specific type of abs pump due to the EDL it has
