I don't think you need the ecu with the G40 - you can run it on weber carbs. therefore you shouldn't need much of a loom either?
I've seen G40 engines go for about 700 with recon charger.
someone else please give him more accurate info than me tho!!

Dave mate thanx for all your help i think it would be best for me to take out slight modifications to the 8V or a 16V lump in my car.

K&N kits are a waste of time imo... had mine on for 4 days, no difference in performance but made me feel like i was driving a corsa...

no probs! I think a few people convert 8v to 16v using a 16v head - but I have no idea what is involved....
