i got cought at 104.9 on a 60 dual carrageway at 9am on an easter sunday and it went to court,
i got 6 points and £140 fine.

there is no such thing as "over a certain speed its a ban" its totally at the descresion of the court judges.
It also makes no difference if you say you need your car for work, they hear that every day remember. If anything, it makes them think you should cherish your licence more than to speed and get caught!!

My mate's g/f's mum is a part time judge, i had a very lengthy convosation with her about all this!

yeah thats true, u don't think about it when ur actually doing it do ya, but then afterwards u think, "geez that was silly".
i've done 130mph in my old leon and afterwards i thought, what if a tyre had blown or what if i hit oil or what if the police had seen me??
i guess the adreneline takes over!!

That's always the case yeah, if I ever hit a ton, I think afterwards - if one of those cars was a Police car, I'm screwed.

 Suppose so yeah, I think within reason, so long as it's done on a road where you can only cause harm to yourself it's not as bad, it's when you could lose control and kill other people.

And of course if you're carrying passengers, it's a no no.

yeah i know!! since my stint in the leon, fuel economy has been a fairly big issue for me coz the price of diesel is higher than petrol round here!! so i've been retraining myself to drive the car as effectively and efficiently as possible to keep my consumption down.
has worked quite well, i can make around £15 last 6-8 depending on wot sota journeys i'm making!
my driving is mostly town work with the odd trip along a dual carriageway!
this includes the odd scooter chase  those bloody things do me head in!!!

And mine, I must confess to blowing one off one day, little tw4t, he was up my arse coming up to a roundabout, I was going straight on (onto a national speed limit road) so floored it, I didn't see him again
