The 1.4 8v is 60 BHP and 14.4sec-60

The 1.4 16v is 100BHP and 10.2sec-60

The 1.6 GTI is 125BHP and 8.4sec to 60

Got the info off parkers, in reality they maybe a little faster as i think speed tests have to be done with a half load in the car so its as close to how it would be in the real world.

Its not just down to BHP in the case of the Punto, its weight, conditon of the engine and the gearing on the car. Not to mention the driver.

Chris,
Don't be fooled, those Ignis Sports are pretty nippy.

107bhp, in a car that weighs 945Kgs with short gearing.

The 1.6GLX multijet is rapido, 100bhp, much better than the 1.416v, not as highly stressed engine and all the parts are there for upping the power, turbine injection.... :D

You've no idea what your talking about do you?

they didnt fit a 1.6 100bhp engine in a mk4 hatch, only in the big arsed saloon and estate,

Turbine injection? do explain

I dont know what im talkin about.. mate look at the list of things ive done to my car, i like to think ive lernt a couple of things along the way,

http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/articles/015.htm

Im sure the 1.6 glx had a "turbine injection" system, which no ones ever heard of before, my friend has one, its a very different inection system to mine, but mine is only spi... but they did a 75bhp model and then a very rare 100bhp model, his is the 100bhp one.. or so he thinks. there... explained.

My pick up had the AEE Polo engine with multipoint injection, still only 75bhp though.

But I must admit I did think at one point there was a 100bhp version of the 'smaller' 1.6 engine, could well be wrong though.

I must admit the reason I went for the larger 1.6 is because its a simple job to put the 1.8T in as its uses much of the same mountings etc.

Im guessing its a referance to the variable inlet manifold, long and short tracts for better torque.
