Hmm, I've done 110 in my 1.0, downhill by accident (I just usually keep the gas down coz it doesnt usually get above 90!).......
I've got 17's on and on this website it said that 70 on my speedo = 77 actual speed. But this would mean i hit about 120...which is mental for a 1.0E and it wasnt even redlining...!
So basically there is defo somethin dodgy with the speedos....

12 points? i thought if u were caught doing over 100 its an automatic ban.

i got a 1 litre to and i managed to get it to 100 b 4 but the whole car was rattling and it was very close to if not in the red and i thought that dont sound to good im slowing down. never done it again. the most i do in it now is 90 if i really wanna push it.

just a shame how half the time ur drizing along the motorway or something and b 4 u realise it u look at ur speedo and realise ur foot has slowly moved down and ur going about 9o or something.

i want a bigger engine. i want a polo gti.....

mine smoothly glides along at 100+ and yer its very close to the red, but sounds ok rle.

i must just b lucky!
lol i wud say my speedo is WELL out, but if been drivin wiv frends b4, and i keep up with them just fine when theyre doin over 100 so it cant be.

this is kinda weird, just so ya know tho, im not lying to look hard lol.

Actually come to think about it, in my old mk4 polo 1.4CL it had a tendency to pop out of fith gear on motorway runs or speeds around 90ish, if i let off the throttle it would pop out.

i could get over 100mph in my mk4 1.0 but it really didn't enjoy it and i didn't do it often as i didn't want the engine packing in prematurely

it was also embarassing cos it was revving so high it sounded like it was going to explode :P

na i dont have a clue, but i know you can damage the forks between the gears if u slam the gears in, but i cant see you slamming it in to reverse lol

stop teasing the poor guy... dont worry mate I believe ya...

According to my speedo I've hit 115mph and with my exhaust it sounded like an avalanche...

The car just isn't made for speeding unfortunatelly...

u won't write it off, if u drive sensibly! u don't have to rag the nuts off a car to enjoy it!!
i enjoy driving but i don't rag my car at all really, i give it the odd thrash (this is advised with a diesel).
my enjoying a car is also about looking after it, washing it, and respecting it!
if u look after it and drive properly then u can enjoy it for longer! a car is a dangerous weapon if used wrongly!!

Cheers Dad! only joking. Dan, has a very good point, cars can be leathal. I remember when i passed my test i was a bit hyper but just found ive calmed down alot now and it still just as enjoyable. Also when u add alloys, usually tyres become more expensive, so i try to preserve them more now. (not sure if preserve is the right word lol) By all means give the polo a a run for its money now and again if its safe enough but remember ure also responsible for every1 in the car.
