Re: New member from Glasgow
the tyres on those are totally wrong. you need a 195/40 on a 16". 205/45 will scrub and send the speedo out

Re: New member from Glasgow
If getting them I'd be prepared to buy a full set of new tyres. They're 205/45s, way off in terms of the correct rolling radius. You'll need 195/40/15. The 205s will most probably scrub standard height, and definitely with any kind of lowering.
Re: New member from Glasgow
According to this website the new rolling radius is smaller by 0.6" so speedo would be fine. Take it they are just too wide? They're on a Gti at the moment and apparently are fine...

6.3% out actually Original tyre size on the GTI is 195/45/15 not 55
At 60MPH, the clock will be 63.8MPH

Re: New member from Glasgow
They will work, but scrubbing and innacurate speed will be an issue till the tyres are corrected

Re: New member from Glasgow
From experience I can tell you fitting 205/45/16s will scrub quite a bit, especially on the back!
Also the 195/40/16s you'll need to make them fit perfectly tend to be fairly limited in terms of tyre choice, as its not a common size.

Toyo Proxes T1-Rs or Yoko S-Lines are a good choice in that size

Nice looking GTI you have there mate.
Mine's got the full leather trim like yours and I must say it looks as if your passenger seat has never been sat on! Looks Mint all round in fairness.
