Re: H+R spring kit
You're quite right. Eibach manufacture the original VW aftermarket lowering springs for the 6R, they're just painted in a different colour and packed in a differently branded box.kevinctr wrote:Eibach is another good choice!
I bought a set of both H&R 25/40 and Eibach 25/30 springs when I ordered my Polo, but after seeing several sample pictures decided to fit the H&Rs. The Eibach/VW kit leaves the rear of the car slightly too high IMO, whereas the H&R gives a perfect stance (again IMO, naturally). I measured the drop compared to my standard non-sport chassis, and in my case it was definitely the advertised 25/40mm if not a few mm more even.
The Eibach/VW kit is said to give a slightly softer ride than the H&R, though.

Supposedly H&R are changing to details of the 25/40 springs to 20/35 as they dont drop enough...:L

Re: H+R spring kit
Might be, but my experience from the drop is quite the opposite! The amount of drop is naturally in relation to the weight of the car. Not all Polos weigh the same, so it is in fact fair from H&R to change the description to comply with the 'worst-case scenario'. That way no customer is misguided, and most will be pleasantly surprised to notice the drop was more than advertised...NeilMcConville wrote:Supposedly H&R are changing to details of the 25/40 springs to 20/35 as they dont drop enough...:L
Also worth considering that there are two different H&R 25/40 kits for the 6R available. Fitting a kit designed for the heavier front axle weight versions to a lighter-spec (literally) car naturally results in less drop. And vice versa.
H&R part no. 28977-1 for cars up to 929 kg front axle weight
H&R part no. 28977-2 for cars from 930 front axle weight
Re: H+R spring kit
Moreso that the spring manufacturer takes up some variation due to the high manufacturing tolerances set by the OE company. VW have issued a tolerance of +/-35 mm on the Amarok for instance so if you have a natuaraly, from the factory lower car (like i do), you will see less drop. The difference in weight of the car would be lucky to be 1-2kgs, max.The amount of drop is naturally in relation to the weight of the car. Re: H+R spring kit
I got mine from awesome gti in Manchester, got to me super quick too
Re: H+R spring kit
Do people go for the <929 or >930 kit on the GTI? Assume it would be the > 930 kit, with the increased weight on the GTI model.
Re: H+R spring kit
you'd want 930+ for the gti mate
