Interesting feedback on the 6R GTI - sounds a bit of a fail on VW's part. If the GTI's engine had been available in the BGT, I would have gone for that, but the GTI as it stands is just too flashy looking (red strip inside headlight  )

The new GTI does look shiny, but the added cost and significantly reduced economy would have meant its a no for me. Oh and trying to get the GTI badge past the company car scheme admins ;-).

Also the GTI has the same torque as the BGT - when fitted with the DSG. So they are likely to feel very similar when not being thrashed.

I went into my dealer wanting a Polo GTI. The salesman had a BlueGT and praised it enormously, and majorly convinced me that it was a BlueGT I wanted, not a GTI.

I left having ordered a BlueGT, and I had doubts after if that's actually what I really wanted.

Having read multiple posts from people on here, and nothing just how many in this forum have that their current car is a BlueGT has resolved all those issues, and I'm glad of the choice I made. It's a shame it didn't get a visual upgrade, but still a good deal!

Reality, extra speed and fab looks are awesome at first, but to live with it'll still look dishy, and the economy and running costs are something I will be more than grateful for! :)

It's not as fast as the GTI but I can assure you it's far easier to live with and it looks fantastic. I'm already getting over 50mpg as an average without even trying and I'm using bog standard supermarket fuel (the min 95 RON for the car). It's also extremely comfy and I'm coming from a golf with nice fat tyres.

Agreed. A couple of years ago I had a 420hp Jaguar XKR - gorgeous and very powerful, but I ended up getting rid because I was constantly worried about it getting dirty, keyed or stolen and I knew that if anything went wrong, it would costs literally thousands to fix. The Blue GT will be for me, I hope, the 'perfect' compromise.

Indeed. My aim was for something that had enough go to make me smile but also cheap to run.

Should the sun be out and the roads quiet, the car is forgotten anyways :D .

If the sun is out and the road is quiet you're driving too slow if you've forgotten the car

Hi buy the BlueGT because I want to save gas when possible and have power when you need it.
It has been a great success .
