Darts mate I'm off to bed anyways

I was just thinking - we had a computer at work that couldn't communicate across the network, and it was eventually traced down to Norton Internet Security's firewall blocking ICMP and NetBIOS protocols - does the PC trying to connect to the router have any software firewalls active? It could be blocking access to the router you see. NetBIOS needs to be allowed so that the router can assign the PC a network address, and ICMP is needed for communication between a host (PC) and an Internet gateway (router).

Will try and help out a bit more tomorrow...

Nite

wish i could help but when i got my netgear wireless internet router out of the box it was working fab about 20 minutes after being plugged in with me blindly clicking thru the auto setup...

all i can suggest is that you find the little reset button and push it (with a biro, unfolded paper clip, whatever)??? might be some random settings logged into it's flash memory from being stuck in the box a while.

these things are supposed to be set up idiot proof these days after all - not even 100% sure i entered my internet settings as it may well have auto detected.

I still cant get the file hosted.

But my mate has taken the equipment back over to his place he's gonna have a look on the forum and read what has been wrote and give it a few trys himself.

No doubt i'll be over at his later in the week having another go.
Failing that, he can pay some1 to do it.
