Right well,
After all this talk about the top speed speed of a 1.0 polo...
I was on the M25 tonight, no cars in sight so thought i would put it to the test...
Seems that Parkers guide is right after all.
Top speed on flat road at 5000 rpm was 90... on my speedo(but taking into account my 17s thats more like 96-99).
It would not accelerate past this unless i was going downhill and even then it would only get to max 100 on my speedo and this was pushing 5800 revs...never any more than that and i dont know how you pushed it past that coz i was brickin it going past 5000 rpm! Felt like it was gunna fall apart
Anyway, nuffs enough
Hope that clears that up

ive definately had mine at more than 5000 revs though, but it was when the gearbox was on its way out so i think it was over revving.
havent tried any motorways with my new gearbox, i'll try 1 soon n let ya no how it goes.

Jumping out of gear is generally dying gearbox.
Number one cause of dying gearbox is poor driving technique.
If you've killed a gearbox, the rest of the car can't be that much better.

theres some truth in that, but remember that MK5's have a known weakness in the Gearbox department.

yeah i think your right to an extent, i did use to pull away faster than i should, and try and change gear quick to maximise speed.
but now i have the new gear box i can see a massive difference, my old gearbox was never like this so i know it was already on its way out and i just sped the process up.
it wasnt just because of me, it was already sh|t.
it used to sound weird even when i bought it.
yeah im sure your all going to make up some other saying how buyin a car that sounds sh|t is a sign im an idiot.
but i dont care, i love my care, n yeh i paid out a bit for a new gearbox but it runs great, n every1 hoo gets in it are shocked at what a nice car it is for a 17 yr old.
