ISO connections on 9n

Post by SamY »

Does anyone have a diagram or details for the ISO connectors on the polo 9n. I've heard VW use some of the pins in a non standard way.

I think they must have some kind of speed or maybe a CAN bus cable in there because the original VW radios have a feature called GALA, which adjusts the volume according to the speed of the car.

I've been informed by pioneer that the while/purple cable in the ISO harness on a polo manual can be used to detect speed pulses. Anyone know which pin this is?

Also, I read somewhere in this forum that I should swap the red and yellow cables around. I havent done this yet, but the headunit I've just installed seem to power up and down fine - the only problem is when I start the engine, it cuts power to the radio for a second or so, will this probably be solved by switching them?

Woohoo.

Theres a pin diagram for the polo 9n manual on the back of the beta radio.

And I can confirm that the white/purple cable is in fact a speed pulse line, one of the pins in marked as k-line, which I guess is the line connecting to the ecu in some way.. luckily the harness for my head unit doesnt make a connection to it.

Generally the aftermarket radios ISO plugs only have the cables relating the power wires and some have the light cable also.

Thanks again n3oNx,

Yep, the ISO plugs generally only have power, and maybe antenna relay. The confusing this is that the ISO plug on the polo seems to be different.

On my 9n with the beta radio, the ISO plug had an extra k-line, and speed pulse line. And the constant power and acc position power line were switched around.

The switched power wires is normal on VW :P
