Knocking Sounds

Lo peeps,

A strange knocking sound has been coming from the front of my L reg GT coupe. It sounds like the noise is coming from the wheel or maybe suspension?!? Me mate suggested it may be the balljoint as the noise only happens when I turn right....I replaced the balljoint and I am still experiencing this knocking sound from the front end.

I have read somewhere on this forum hat the noise could be top strut. Im gonna take my motor to my local local garage atv the weekend, but if the problem is minor Id much rather do the work myself and save the cash for mods.
Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone know what it maybe??? Please help.

welcome to UK-P it's your cv joint that's the problem

I suspected it may be the cv joint but thought that this would make a constant knocking noise, rather than only in right handers....oh well no matter....how much does it usually cost to replace the cv joint....Im sure its expensive right

I thought CV joints made more of a clicking sound than a knocking?
Could well be the strut top mount. Mine's making a similar noise at the moment because I fitted the top mount upside down when I changed my shocks last week So that's all coming apart at the weekend.. I should imagine a worn mount would make a similar noise though.
Does it also happen when going over bumps, or just on full lock?

Turns out the suspect noise was a worn shock absorber....!!! This will be sorted this coming week. Cheers peeps

right mate if its the passenger side its well common and its useually the anti roll bar bushes where it nolts into the trailin arm, ive had the same problem with both polo's ive had and same on me mates. does it do it even louder if you pull off quite quickly and more so if you spin the wheels?
