Newbie - Open Air Question

Post by nw30uk »

Hi All, been loittering for a while now picking up info before I purchase a polo. Have found a nice looking 1.4 16v with Open Air, just wondered if anyone has any positive or negative comments about this type of roof? Do they need replacing due to weathering? any problems with the electrics?

Thanks

Hello newbie!

Welcome to the forum.

AFAIK, there are no significant problems with the open air ragtops. As with all cloth roofs, check for weathering and dryness/rips/etc.

I always thought they were manual powered btw.

I've recently purchased a MK4 Open Air in Dragon Green, and I can see the open roof being a great luxury for the summer... Didn't know they did a 16V version though...

my only worry was the insurance being more than with a tin topped one... but my insurance company only recognise it as a 1.4CL.

would make a good purchase I reckon, because if you get it at the right proice, and don't like it, you can always sell it on for a bit more at the right time of year!!
