Inlet manifold
Went to the scrappy today and found they have a near complete mk2 ranger in. I noticed that the inlet manifold had what looked like a mounting block for a twin choke carb on it (carb unfortunately had gone), and the rest of the manifold looked different to mine - sort of more rounded, looked like it would give better gas flow. Anyone know if it would be worth nabbing it while it's still there, or is there not really any difference? Doubt he'd ask too much for it.

I would agree with you that there would be better gas flow as that inlet is designed to deliver more gas to the engine [because it was for a bigger carb]. However if its from a ranger you will have to make up an adaptor plate for your carb [1e] to mount on top of it and also it will have a heated element in it that you will have to either leave or blank off. I think it is worth getting if its only a few quid, even if you just end up polishing the inside of it to get rid of manufacturing floors and fit it on as an experiment.

They all have the heated element in them, or at least they should do.. certainly mine does already
As for the carb mounting I would have thought the manifold -> mounting block fixings would be the same for the two types of block, although I guess not necessarily. I'll give it a try though, his prices are cheap enough anyway and I shouldn't think there's much demand for mk2 polo inlet manifolds..
