Disable your car when you go on Holiday 6n2

Hi,
Back in the oldern days when all this was just fields. Me dad used to disable the car when going on holiday by removing the rotor arm etc.

If I'm off for a couple of weeks what can I do to disable my polo from any theiving scum that might take a fancy to it?

I did think about fuse 3 or the fuel relay - its not going anywhere without that - and how many theives have a 6n2 fuel relay in their back pocket?

PS - I can't find the fuel relay anyway.

just take the dizzy cap and leads off surely

be an inventive theif who has those around them

*or whatever the equivalent is if your ignition system no longer has any moving parts - there will still have to be cables to the plugs at very least*

or the master fuses for the everything that doesnt need battery back up power, particularly if your fuse box is well hidden.

disconnect the multiway plugs for the fuel injector system, hall sender (?), coil, throttle pot, wiring to the starter motor, so on and so forth.

and loosen all the wheel bolts.

remember to leave yourself a large print list that you can check off as you bring it back to running order when you return, and bag the fuses up properly.

There is no distributer. And disconnecting cables would be too easy. I spot them before the bonnet has lifted all the way!

well if removing the leads is too easy so would the plugs as it wouldnt be too hard for someone used to carrying leads / plugs around to figure out whats going on.

you could replace the leads with black insulation tubing of a suitable diameter. then it looks like they're still in place and connected properly, and will be the last thing some hood checks...

How about the fuel filter?

Or of course you could just install a kill switch somewhere unseen. I think that's the easiest thing.

I think removing the injector fuse seemed to work fine. That would take a while to find and wouldn't be worth it. And its easy to remove FS3.

while at uni i got to know an ex-squaddie (regular crossings of path in the town's best boozer) who was also a bit of a dub aficionado..... he had 101 good ideas for places to hide your killswitch as he'd used them in various cars over the years (including a certain notorious renault 21 turbo he'd had in germany).

can still remember a couple of the sneakier ones, though i think pm's would probably be the best way to pass the knowledge on, rather than a public forum.

Why not remove the coil? Fuses are always a good one - but easily bypassed with a handy bit of wire if the thief is determined. Unplugging less obvious connections always helps, as does removing fuel pump or ECU relays etc.
