soap box.

why is the goverment paying the suppliers of rover anything?

if where ever you work did a whole lot of work for a company which went bust and you where out of pocket - would the goverment be giving you money to help you out? no.

its a shame people loosing their jobs, but quite why rover are being treated differently to every other company in the country i dont know.

and where did they put that 440million they had? or that 57million for their engines? or those 67,000 cars?

Politics. This has been a real kick in the teeth for labour, which is to the enormous benefit of the workers there.
Don't think it's terribly fair to say all their recent cars have been crap though. 80's and early 90's weren't exactly a fine example of engineering, but whatever people may say, they'd really pulled it together over the last few years, especially the MG line, I'd say it's pretty commendable really given that they've been struggling financially for years, they made the best of what they had available, which sadly wasn't very much.

PoloChick, I've heard that rumour.. although unfortunately I can't find any substance to it. Any idea as to who this mystery buyer is meant to be?

probably alchemy coming back round for another go

if they bite i bet they can make a good go at it. sure as hell should be a better market for some decent raw mg sports cars (hopefully moving away from "rover 25 1.4 with the soundproofing removed and a plasticky body kit") than there was for the more mundane cars.

and the city rover, i mean, just what the hell?

love the animated badge :)
