When i jack my car up and spin the left rear wheel there seems to be a rubbing noise. Its coming from the drum break. I took it off last night and gave it a good clean inside to make sure there wasnt any loose rust etc.
The other side is perfect, spins without a noise, its definatly not the wheels as it does it without them on. A few weeks back before I got my alloys i hit a curb with that wheel, it caused my wheel to have a slight flat on it and would seem I have damaged something else?
Could i have damaged the hub? What kind of money am i looking at to have this fixed?

Grinding Noise coming Front rear wheel
You see, I specifically asked if it sounds like a train. If it does, then it is the bearing. There are only two things that it can be unless something is obviously fouling. The hub runs on the bearing and the brake is the only other thing that should touch. Had it been a disk brake I would also say check the rear air deflector as this can sometimes get bent onto the disk - not a problem to fix, you just pull it off with your hands but sounds really expensive.
Bearings do not often fail, unless there is a small defect in them to begin with. But in your case, you might have cracked it when you hit the curb.
But it sounds like you got off likely. If the rear suspension gets out of whack it can be a real pain to fix, as it isn't easily adjustable, so you are lucky this time, with only a bearing. Drive more carefully (unless its a hire car!).

I always drive carefully. Mr girlfriend was moaning and stuff. Hehe! I was only doing about 20-25mph when i hit the curb. Thanks for the diagnostic's. How much am i looking at for a new rear bearing?
I only just had the car serviced 2 weeks ago, u'd think they wud have noticed this? Stupid c**t...

Of course not, in a service they only do what is on the shedule. Some people expect them to magically fix everything. In reality they usually break something as well.
Don't know how much a bearing is. But I would recommend a VAG part. You are quite lucky as a rear bearing is much easier to replace than the front.
