HI-NRG MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111

Post by Tahrey1043 »

Post inspired by Bonnie Tyler! (eek)

Radio on in the kitchen, randomly, Holding Out For A Hero comes blaring. Impressed by how it could not possibly be more energetic if it was a near-critical mass of uranium, floating in a vat of adrenaline and gently frosted with a blend of cocaine and amphetamines. Despite being utterly straight it compelled me to shake my thing (only a little though - it WAS right after dinner).

Though it would be preferable if the theme was slightly different, that's just the kind of thing you need sometimes, to get you moving for a summer night, dozy in the car, or to perk up a crap winters evening.

What others can y'all think of? My heads a-fuzz with working out some rubbish to be typed for tomorrow, but the mp3 stash is crying out to be raided for top titles (and maybe a CD to be burnt - i already have two or three homebrew chillout discs after all) :) :)

No genre constraints.... rock, pop, country, electro/goth*, dance, r'n'b, cheese, or even..... classical (gasp!).... and if you're really good, something gangsta!

* goth or electro vs high energy = not the contradiction in terms i thought it was two weeks ago, thanks to a compliation i got :D

Despite listening to the Training Day soundtrack at the moment (awesome), I've been slowly putting together a tracklisting for a similarly-themed (ie. high-tempo[ish]) CD for the car. So far as below...

Pearl Jam - Go
Rainbow - Since You've Been Gone
Van Halen - Jump
Little Angels - Too Much Too Young
Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl (predictable but hey *shrugs*)
George Thorogood & The Destroyers - Louie To Frisco
Blondie - Call Me
Free - Alright Now
The Jam - Town Called Malice
Don Henley - Boys Of Summer
The Doors - Riders On The Storm

Well, its a start... might give you some ideas!

Pretty good, "but" :D i'm still looking for one notch above (most of!) that stuff ... most if not all of that* would very easily get onto (or have previously been on) one of my less specialist Rock CDRs, which are themselves fairly energetic..

But need stuff to (for example) power your way through crap homework or a mountain of household chores to (i've just realised my lethargy in these things this eve is due to silence punctuated only by the CPU fan - so may as well leverage it with some of those.. van halen is as f***ing a good start as any!)

* some of it i havent heard of, but hey - i'll have to see if i have it knocking around unlistened anywhere & (re)discover it .. so thanks ;)
** first unique suggestion, though it wont be to some people's taste - go to www.spraynet.co.uk and download the original version of their "Run With Us" cover (under the MP3s link). Quite peppy i must say, and addictive, even once the anoraktastic source has been revealed.

Pretty much anything from the Wayne's World soundtrack: hey mickey, ugly kid joe - everything about you, tia carrie singing the ballroom blitz -- so many memories...

ohh, pretty damn good :)
but jeez i can just see me cueing up Holding Out for a Hero, It's Raining Men, Total Eclipse of the Heart (how does Hurra stand up to the mid 90s Nicki French Energise Mix?) and Walking On Sunshine, and giving lots of people entierly the wrong idea :D great tunes, but.... you have to watch yourself. Pretend to be german and not understand the words or something.
 lolz

i'm going to have to scrounge them and put them on before work, saturday.... using my newfound friend - the updated version of Milkdrop that comes in the latest Winamp package. If you're unfamiliar with this, it's their funkysexycool light-synthesiser thing that responds to the music you play, and they seem to have made the sound analysis routine a lot more refined this time round. It was interesting, but not too captivating before - now it's awesome and almost appears to have psychic powers... changing the theme in time with transitions between intro-verse-bridge-chorus etc and being beat perfect all the while.

tell you what....... GnR's paradise city is pretty good too, if you have the full on version. You have to wade through 4 or 5 minutes of regular, slightly fast heavy rock, but it's worth it for that last instrumental bit :D
