W reg 1.4 saloon clutch noise

Hi,

My girlfriends mum has just bought a W plate polo saloon with the 1.4 engine. When you press the clutch pedal down a definite click noise can be heard from round the pedal area. This happens with the engine running or without and the car seems to change gear fine and it doesn't cause any problems. We were just wondering if anyone had come accross this before and is it a fault and something is about to break or just something we have to put up with.

I'm no expert on the newer polos, but I know that lots of them suffer from broken pedal boxes, which would do this as well as reducing clutch travel.. think there was a recall a while ago to have them all fixed. Might be worth asking your dealers for advice on that one.
