Santa pod and custom code!!

Post by moynas »

Hello VERY bad display by the lil red gti 2day!!

Best time i could do 1/4 mile was 17.000 very bad from my gti!!!
Ive got the BMC, 70mm cat back exhaust and custom code (dont like) Which i thought putin out 110bhp on the rollers would be good!!

Well very pissed off ok im running 16's with 195/45/16 tyres (bout inch-half bigger than standard) got two amps dvd player a mass of mdf and a sub in the boot, four doors but that aint the point! should be able to get in the high 16s,

It never pulled hard like it use to (before cuctom code) the revs haven't been freed up like they said as it cuts out around 6600rpm (which is standard info from elsa win) no top end pull! VERY PISSED!

Chatted to Custom code bloke WHO to be honest was VERY RUDE Didn't want to know what so ever, said ive got an air flow sensor problem on the Crappy BMC im running! (BMC CRAP must be only won f1 and rally awards) think i might just take the chip out and go standard! seemed to pull alot better! plus been told that from good source that the polo gti chip is better remapped not changed over!

My rant over sorry guys BAD day

And yes i got whooped by a 1.4 mk4 polo! NOT HAPPY

I saw you go down there, I did expect a bit quicker from what you have said has been done etc.

By what you have said up there I'd get the custom code out as well.

Something dont seem right at all with the car gunna hook it up to vag com check it out, but it just dont want to rev up at all!

FCUKING s**t chip id say as ive talked to people on clublupo and the boys from the VR6s they think it aint as custom as they say it is!

It has massive dips around the 6000rpm mark and around the 4500 5000rpm!

Not very happy at all! Gunna be next week now tho cos having front bumper smoothed 2mo!!

Y'know it could be other things...

The MAF is a big possibility...I'd say the BMC has killed it.

Or, adding fuel to the fire, a bad driver on the strip.

Where is the mass air flow sensor then cos it aint on the piping around the air box?? is it the metal bit that the 90 degree bend attaches to??

P.s my reaction times were 0.308- 0.543 and i changed gear well everytime well except on the 1st run done 5 in all!

The MAF is after the air filter...the unit with a mesh ring protecting it.

An air filter that isnt to manufacturer specifications can let through crap that can damage the MAF and reduce the performance of the car significantly.

Get it on VAG-COM and all will be revealed.

Hey dude

Your car definatly was running slow

a stock Gti should be getting 16.5 (ok it was hot yesterday)

I have a Laptop with vag com on it (well the shareware version)

I can bring it along to J29 next time if you want

Hallo Moyas...

Remember me??

Remember what i told you about the HP you have ???

So listen up now....

1) There is no MAF sensor in the Gti and the bloke was BSing you BIG TIME.The ECU uses a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor to control the car.

2) I was skeptical about the "Custom Code" all you guys are mentioning cause as i've already stated, the Simos3 ECU isn't OBDII flashable AFAIK

3) The revs have not been freed as you say...Mine cuts at about 7200 now (always above 1st gear). So thats a no go.

4)You have definately KILLED your backpressure with a 70mm exhaust...YOU ARE NOT RUNNING A TURBO CAR DUDE!!!That is a MAJOR fault by itself...

5)BMC does its work, but it all points to your engine not getting gas in the high revs, hence the performance loss.

There is more for me to tell you, but start from the above.

I've said a MILLION TIMES this car is really hard to tune...I should know, im trying for the past 4 years to get me 127 HP @ wheels....

Don't dispare.I've already remapped the car twice with a cost of 800 Euros, just to get a good result...You have a long way to go.....
