Novice needs so answers to some questions...

Dear All,

I apologise in advance if I'm asking a question that has already been asked previously in the forum, I've had a look around but I can't seem to find the answers I am looking for.

Basically on the GTi it comes with the 6 CD changer and Gamma/Beta H/U as standard...I want to keep the changer but change the H/U how is this possible? Someone mentioned that you can get a conversion plug that allows you to buy an after-market H/U but still use it with the existing changer...is that right? and is it hard to fit? Cheers guys.

Hi Mate

As far as I'm aware, this isn't possible.

You can add an aftermarket changer to a Gamma HU, but not the other way round unfortunately.

I bought a Sony HU (as I needed AUX input) but have had to take the changer out.

Thanks Josh, looks like the stereo upgrade will have to wait, bummer, cannot afford a MD/CD changer package right now...just bought the insurance...and strangely enough now there's a big hole in my wallet...
