My daughter has a 1999 1.0L polo, and I had reason to drive it the other day and was quite shocked at the inefficiency of the brakes, they were crap + excessive pedal travel.. So being the good dad that I am, I put new disc's and pads on the front, checked the back brakes and replaced cylinders cos they were just starting to weep. Bled the brakes but still had the excessive pedal travel. Id read on a forum that this is a common fault with polos and the master cylinder is the cause. So I put a new one on.
The problem I have now is that when I bleed the brakes, as per haynes manual, o/s rear, n/s rear, o/s front, when I get to this stage the pedal is quite solid to press down, but when I bleed the last, n/s front, The pedal goes completely soft again. Am I doing something wrong, or could there be another fault with the system.
Your advice please
