my 6n boot lock or handle is playing up--- the boot was locked with the lock horizontal-- i put the key in turned it so tht it was vertical and pulled the handle -- the handle came upwards and instead of undoin the catch and releasing the boot- it made a funny click noise and the boot did not open i tried this several times -- it then worked later on tht evening -- some times for the catch to work the key has to be in the lock and the lock must be at just over 45 degress-nt vertical for it to work as it is supposed to-!
has any one experienced this prob?? if so how do u fix it ??
p.s it has nt had an attempted brake in etc
thnks if u can help
boot lock help!
Re: boot lock help!
Well when mine failed on me I had the click and couldn't open the boot, except mine was a bit more terminal, it wouldn't open at all. The lock barrel was seized up through a combination of weather/corrosion and general lack of use, and I had to have the whole lot replaced (using the original boot handle, ie. the metal bit) by VW for £110 fitted.BLACK6N_POLO wrote:i put the key in turned it so tht it was vertical and pulled the handle -- the handle came upwards and instead of undoin the catch and releasing the boot- it made a funny click noise and the boot did not open i tried this several times -- it then worked later on tht evening
Have you tried lubricating the barrel? Other than that you could strip the boot down and inspect the release mechanism for any sign of excessive wear or damage?
Cheers
