Hi rob, you just lift up the gator then you`ll see a gold clip that holds the gearknob onto the shaft i just snipped that off then the gearknob just pulls off, HTH

yea, but your new gear knob shouldnt need that clip, they usually tighten up with an allen key.

How about removing the actual knob from the gaitor?

I know the gold clip releases the whole lot from the gearstick, but the knob is still firmly attached to the gaitor

any ideas? :D

I had to cut the gator where it joins onto the gearknob then squeeze the gator up into the new gearknob and then tighten with the allen key, it was fiddly but i managed to get it right :D

for a vw one,

try posting in the vagparts section or email/ring them - they can get you the geniune part, so you can swap it over on your car

or try ebay

else your local vw parts at dealership

'sport' or 'wooden' types can be bought also as vw votex accessory
