Power Steering Pipework

Post by stevieP »

:?: any chance someone with a mk4, without ABS would be a bonus, could photograph the power steering pipework particulary around the left wing. I started fitting a power steering setup Thursday to my daughters P reg, 1.0L, 1043cc. Only outside on it for the afternoon 'til it started getting dark, but I managed to remove the original alternator and spring tensioner, fit the large bracket with tension roller, steering pump with hoses attached, oil resevoir, alternator and new v belt.
The problem is that I don't know where around the left side the pipework is exactly routed in and out all the other pipework and cables (my mk5 is slightly different, totally crammed and no help) and with the majority of it being one long piece of steel it is a bit of a pig to manoeuvre around. I have removed the battery and tray for better access and think it sits around/in front of, the suspended gearbox mount, but possibly behind? I'm sure when I get the rack in it will be clearer but I was back to work today and all day tomorrow, so it will now have to wait 'til Tuesday so if someone could take a piccy or 2 in advance I'd be gratefully and you may save me some time. :?
I've also been taking regular pics of the conversion so if successful I'll maybe put together a "how to with pics" for anyone interested.

Hi, thanks for the offer, unfortunately my daughter needs to return to Cardiff Thursday 28th so I'll need to be back under her car Tuesday morning and luckily I'm not back at work next week until (2100hrs) nightshift Sat New Years Eve.
