mp3 cd players that work with the 6-cd changer?

I've got a polo 9N, which has the VW stereo and dash mounter 6cd changer.

I want to change the head unit to one that supports MP3as a 1cd slot in unit, but will also work with the 6cd changer. Is this possible, ie. aftermarket units that play mp3's but can work with the 6cd changer?

If the stereo and disc changer is the original factory fitted VW then you won't be able to use an after-market stereo with the disc changer, basically you have to purchase the whole set again and have it installed.

You would have thought that VW having limited you to using their parts they would offer an MD or an MP3 player to go with the disc changer eh?

VW Japan did a Gamma Minidisc Head Unit... But I've never seen one over here.

Now that would have been cool!

Hmmm...planning a trip over there next year...got a friend over there already...problem is shes a girl...and not very interested in motors...

Might have a look round when I do go over, do you reckon it would work with the UK disc changer? and would the radio frequencies work as well?

im pretty sure that it wouldn't. i seem to remember that all the jap cars that are imported have to have an aftermarket radio or a special gadget fitted to expand the frequencies.
