Alarm Un-synchronised

Post by Mabbi »

I have a 1996 polo 1.6CL
Removed the battery as it was flat and charged it up overnight, but the alarm and C/L by remote will not work anymore.

The Alarm LED on the dashboard is also now permanently on.

C/L works fine when using the key in the drivers door lock. Car drives fine so i guess the immobiliser is unaffected.

I think the alarm has become un-synchronised to the remote keyfobs and I have no info on how to Re-sync it. If anyone knows how to do this could they please let me know.

I am pretty sure that the alarm is the standard VW scorpion type.

:D

you might have to get the alarm reset by VW.

Had / having same kind of problem with mine mate. Can sometimes take 5 mins of pressing button on key fob before car opens. Trouble is i've been to all the local alarm / car shops and been told that it's not possible to get a replacement key fob because they can't get them. Even my VW dealer said there's nothing they can do because the company that manufactured the alarms they fitted is now bust...

Just to let you all know I managed to sort out my alarm problem.

It was just a matter of switching the ignition to the II position, so the dashboard warning lights are on, then disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery. The alarm sounds and you switch it off with the key fob.

Sorted

Still got a faulty temp sensor though, gauge never rises above cold, just been qoted £15 + Vat for a new one.

Does anyone know how easy a job it is to fit?

Also got a weird whining noise coming from engine housing when the ignition is on. Sounds like some sort of electrical alarm anyone got any ideas of what it might be?

Going it to take it for a service and timing belt renewal next week as I've only had the car a couple of months and don't know if the belt has been changed. I'll ask them if they know whats causing it.

Better to be safe than sorry.
