Hi there! I'm looking at tinting the windows on my GTi only trouble is I've heard a few horror stories that due to someone being killed the police are claming down on them, also heard that if they deem them to be unacceptable they can demand 12 hours for the removable. Can anyone "shed any light" on this?
Also I was quoted £300 + VAT for tints on my GTi is this reasonable. I'm only after a mid to light tint, will I be pulled, am I being ripped off?
Many thanks
Mark

your not allowed to tint the front windowscreen at all.
the front side windows must let 75% of light through
and theres no limits to the rear and rear side windows (as by appling full tints affectivly turns your car into a van)
The police dont like tints, but if you get them done professionally and stick to those guildlines you shouldnt have ant trouble.

Tinting
You are not allowed to tint the windscreen more than 5%.
However the passenger windows and the rear windscreen can be tinted as dark as you want.
I have to say the quote you got sounds v. expensive. I know an amazing place: http://www.tintwizard.co.uk/ The best thing is this guy is a total pro. so you get quality and it's at an affordable price. He said he'd do a 3-door polo for 180 or a 5-door for 220. He did mine and it's wiked. I've had it for 3 months and the tints are as good as the day they were done if not better.
