Beta Radio - strange one!

Post by howett »

I have a Beta Radio in my Mk IV Polo and got in yesterday to go to the shops. For some reason I have always had to input the code everytime i use the radio as does not seem to store it. Possibly something to do with the wiring. Anyhoo all is usually fine. However when I tried the code yesterday it said is was wrong so I thought I might have made a mistake entered it again and same thing happened so I now have the '2 SAFE' displayed on the screen. According to the instructions it will be there for an hour and then will be back to normal. HOWEVER when I went to the car today - it was still there?! Have tried disconnecting the battery for a few seconds, enough to reset the clock, but no joy. What is going on?! Thanks in advance.

Gently remove the offending stereo remembering to de-cable the back of it, place it on the floor, preferably on a solid concrete floor.

Raise your right foot to about waist height and kick your foot down on top of the stereo with as much power as possible.

The Stereo should smash into a few million pieces, thus reducing future frustration as well as a quick high from the release of endorphins into the body :)

Should solve your problems mate !

PS - i know this wont get the stereo working again, BUT you'll have a damn good reason to now go down the shops and invest in a real one !!

:-p

You need to leave it swiched on for an hour, then it should allow code re-entry (do it correct this time hehe :P )

Thanks. So does that mean I have to have the car running/ignition on for an hour?! If not then I'm quite sure the radio switches itself off after an hour when key is removed?

No need to have car running, just turn on the radio and come back after at least an hour.

Not sure about that sleep function, but as the radio is in SAFE mode, I think it won't switch off like this.

No, the car will be running, therefore charging the battery as if you are driving it :D
