Post by Biddle »

I got lights the other day but the wirings all backward, spoke to the guy and he tried telling me they were for a facelift model. So now im stuck with a set of lights that dont fit and am just looking for another set. Also im a newbie so could ne one tell me how to add a picture to my message. thanks

you might be able to salvage the ones you have now

if yours are for the 6n2 (mk5) polo and your driving a 6n (mk4) i guess the only difference is the fog lamp and reverse light I think. I'm sure some one on here can direct you in the right path (might be worth checking out the mk5 lights on a mk4 guide in the DIY guides)

as for recommending lexus lights - i cant do that, personally i dont like them.

I've got a set of smoked mk4 lights for my mk4 on their way from mitch and this means i'd have a set of 16 smoked lights up for grabs and cheaps (if i dont like them i'm gonna buy some mk5 rears lol)

if they are for the facelift they will still work

the only difference between facelift polo (6N2) and 6N is that the bulb holders are different (they are symmetrical on the 6N2) and the indicators are at the top of the lights rather than on the sides.

You will easily be able to salvage what you have. You need new bulb holders (6N2 ones) but they cost you 11 quid each. and you need to swap a bit of the wiring around.

The ones i got at the mo are wired wrong tho. In the car the earth pin is at the bottom of the plug and on the new lights the earths at the top(or vice versa). The plugs dont fit in other way round so rewiring them seems to be my only option, and i dun really wana try that because il prob be stuck with a busted pair.

yeah they got their own bulb holders. iv got in touch with the guy and he is sending some leads which hopefully will solve the problem, they sound just like some sort of crossover lead.
