Help problem accelerating :(

Post by scotia_polo »

When I accelerate the engine sounds rattling and it sounds really awful and weak any ideas to what it could be ? My dad says I have a hole in my exhaust, could be the problem as I have slammed my car and seem to be scrappin the bottom of it when I go over any bumps or take corners too fast :( Any help wuld be appreciated guys

So it rattles when stationary?

Hmm.. what's the oil level like?

And when was the timing belt last changed?

My dad checked the oil last night and he said there was too much oil:O but I put oil in it over 4000 miles ago ? I have only 37k on the clock so the timing belt possibly hasn't been changed? You think it could be that ? what would be the symptoms if the timing belt is on its way out ?Thanks alot for your help

Hmm, too much oil can sometimes be as bad as too little oil...

How much over the line is it?

You can get away with a bit over but if you put too much in it burns the tips of the valves (or something like that)..

Cambelts are due for renewal between 40k and 60k I think

Not too sure what it could be.. hopefully someone else will know...
