ECU Replacement

Hello!

I've got 1996 1.4 16V. I have replaced the ECU with a new one and my car starts and dies after 2-3 seconds.

Is ECU connected somehow with immobiliser?

Shuould I go to dealer to have it coded someway or sth?

Is it a genuine Polo ECU for your engine code?
Yes, your ECU contains your imobilisor code, although I would expect it not allowing it to start, not run then cut out.
Have you got access to VAG .com?
Why did you replace the ECU?

the immobilizer on polos will allow the egine to start and run but only for a few seconds, what you need to do is have you key re-matched with your new ecu

if you have vag-com it is possible with this but you need the 4 or 7 digit skc (serect key code) obtain from the main stealer, failing that take it to the main stealer :shock: or look in yellow pages normally few places in every town that does key recoding that tends to be cheaer then the mai stealer

VAG 409-1 is enough? I might get access to that one.

Well, I have N-group ECU installed at the moment it consumes about 16l when driving normal. But normal driving in N-group car means you shouldn't go lower than 3000 rpm or it might stall. It idles very rough at its 1500.

I need to drive it sometimes to training place and I would save a lot if I could use standard setup. Except ecu engine is serial in accordance with appendix J for N-group.

I got a brand new ecu from ebay for AFH from trusted seller. I checked all codes in ETKA so it is certainly ok. I wanted to have 2 ecus and swap them when necessary but I didn't know about that immobiliser connection.

I wonder if it is possible?

Is ecu programmed for the immobiliser or is immobiliser programmed for new ecu. Maybe I should have 2 immobiliser units one for each ecu but both programmed for the same key?

Any hilight on these issues? I appreciate any comment.
