Hi,
I am new to the world of ICE. I want to install a new ICE system in my car. I recently purchased a 2001 Mk5 Match 1.4 with 3 drs. I have installed my JVC MP3 cd player into the car by using the same ISO connector comes with. When I switch the car off and then switch it back on, the memory stored within the stereo is lost. I have read various thread on this, talks about switching the red and brown coloured cable over within the connector, does that work?
I want to change the front speakers on the front doors as the front ones are completely rubbish, I see the speaker grill but do not know how to remove it in order to access the front speakers to change them.
I am also looking into installing some back speakers in as well as there are currently none there. I am not sure whether to install some 6 X 9 on a stealth parcel shelf to be purchased or even better if there is a place in the back to be fitted in. I can't see any places for them to go.
Many Thanks In Advance for the help,
Tandy
General MK5 ICE Question
hello
its a simple job swapping the connectors over all you'll need is a small flat screw driver, swap them on the iso connector,if you look in the plug these a small tab on the metal connector push this up and pull the wire to which it is connected them swap them around
door speakers,DO NOT TRY AND REMOVE THE GRILL AS IT WILL BREAK, you'll have to remove the door trim, this is held on by a few screws (torx head) located under the pull handle, remove this carefully with a blunt blade, also one small phillips screw where the door panel wraps around near the hinges (top) the rest of the panel is held on by plastics clips so pull the door card to release, then disconnect the electric window switch if you have and central locking switch also
when putting back together makes sure that the switches sit level in the panel and the connctors are tight or you may have problems with windows not working correctly
there isnt a place for rear speakers its up to you if you fit rear speakers, just go for decent front speakers (components)and a good sub for the boot, 6x9 arnt worth the money and sound qualtitly isnt that good, its only for rear passengers, who cares if they carnt hear it ,turn it up louder
hope this helps out
