Remove Handbrake Cover

Post by Pedro_Hilario »

Dont know if this is the right section, so feel free to move it to the right one.

I cant figure out how to remove the handbrake plastic cover.
I've learned how to remove everything else on the hanbrake except what i need the most, which is this cover.

Here's a pic of what i need to remove ( in the red rectangle)

You dont have to saw it off, because this would mean it was moulded around the handbrake.

This is a guess but I think you might have to take the button off and it all slides out (towards the windscreen)

Dremel Man is not needed. VW did not mould it around the actual shaft.
(shaft is a funny word   )

Mr Haynes is needed 8)

I don't think haynes helps at all.

and it could easily be a "one way only" fit. depends on the clips.

yes you have to saw it off, and if your wanting to fit a richbrook handbrake or anything like that you have to file down ALOT of the top and underneath of the handbrake

you do not have to saw it. check the underside of that part and you will find a small slot (a square), just press in there with a screwdriver and pull the handle out. You can feel that with your fingers if you go along.

I cant saw it off. I'm thinking of getting a cupra leather cover on there. If that doesnt fit i'll be stuck without a handle on there.

I'll try tomorrow has remover said : screwdiver in that little square.

I'll let you know has that goes.
