I would really appreciate some advice from someone techier than me! I have a 1.4 FSI that I bought new in November 2003.
Over the weekend I drove it 90 miles to Southampton and everything was fine and dandy. The next morning (still in Southampton), it started fine but every time the revs dropped (every time I slowed down!) it cut out/stalled. I have never has this problem before. The RAC couldn't help (they've never managed to help me at the roadside yet!) and I went all the way home on a recovery truck.
My VW dealer (who serviced the car 2 weeks ago) say that the Throttle Body is 'Carboned Up' and needs cleaning, which is normal and is not covered on my warranty is not a Service check so it is going to cost me £70.
I was wondering if this is normal on a 2.5yr old car that has done 35k miles as I have not heard of this before, and also wondered if this is a common problem.
This is the first VW I have had and love it. I was thinking of upgrading to a new polo gti, but I'm a bit concerned as this is the forth problem I have had since new and am a bit suprised to have a problem that causes a breakdown that is not covered under the 3 year warranty...
Any thoughts or similar experiences???
