Engines suitable for 6n2 polo
Does anyone know what other engines could easily be replaced for the engine in the polo?
Like can you get one from a golf or other makes of cars, seat ibiza etc

The general rule of thumb is never build a car you could go out and buy.
I.e. putting a GTi engine in a 6N2, when you could buy a GTi at a reasonable price.
As for engines you could put in:
1.8 20VT
2.0 16v (mk3 Golf)
1.3 G40
2.8 VR6
Or to be different you could try a 1.9 TDi 115/130/150. That would make for a quick car.

Dunno why you would be so keen to keep your car and spend alot of money to a conversion. Alright its a Polo, there good cars(When they work), but if I had the money to do a conversion Id use it buy a new car. Its not like your married to it. As for 6K for a conversion, would it not be logical to sell your car and put it with the 6K you will have at least 9K to buy a car that has them engines as standard and will probably handle alot better than the polo, not saying the polo has the best handling, but you cant compare it to a TT. Also your insurance will be less complicated and and might even be cheaper than insurance on a heavily modified car.

If your only looking for the cheapest option, that really is buy a different car. Take all the non standard bits off yours, sell it, then buy a GTi (if thats what you want) and put your bits back on.
That is unless you can get a GTi block and running gear on the cheap off ebay and swap them yourself for free.

You could spend 10K on a 1.8T conversion for your Polo but someone could say "You could have got a mk4 Golf 1.8T for less than that 2nd hand". But then there aren't that many 1.8T polos (at least not as many as Golf GTi's) so your paying for individuality and that little extra wow factor.
Don't expect to make your money back when you sell it though, nor for it to be as reliable as a standard car (that's half the fun though

Im gonna settle on a gti engine.
You may say just but a gti but look at it this way:
I have a front lip, rear spoiler and smoothed tailgate and front bumper hole from grille filled plus m3 mirrors - body modifications that wont be cheap to get done to a gti
Also i cant replace the grille i have back to standard! Window tinits will be more cost to add to the gti.
Car has been lowered and has a backbox, how much to remove this or even to get this done to a gti?
Angel eyes, rear lexus lights and sound system removed - a LOT of hassle.
The cheapest option IS to NOT buy a gti but to get the conversion done. Im gonna shop around and find out where to find the cheapest parts from and get this done.
As for a new car, maybe when i have £15-20k to blow on a honda s2000 or bmw m3 will i get a new car!

upto you at the end of the day, good luck with it all!
also if you just settle for 'the cheapest option' then the car will probably suffer from reliability problems, just be cautious mate!
and if you want power start by taking them 17's off cos that will be slowing your car down loads, how about some deep dish 15's perhaps?
