Advice on lowering my Mk3 Polo Coupe

Post by LOW PHAT SPREAD »

Am planning to buy a kit (shockers and springs) and lower my car by 70mm, just wanted to find out if anyone else has done this, and could answer a few questions.
What is the ride like?
Does it make the steering heavy?
Does it bang over bumps?
Cheers :)

Just by putting lower profile tyres and 40mm springs on mine I noticed a difference. The dash now jumps around more over bigger bumps, and a few rattles from the rear of the car have appeared. So I imagine that 70mm springs and upreated dampers wil give you a harsher ride.

But we all learn to put up with rattly dashes!!

It depends on lots of things really. Lowering 70mm will definately make the ride harsher and you will feel the bumps more. Steering might be heavier if you are fitting bigger wheels. Personally I wouldnt go lower than 60mm unless you are getting coilovers. There are loads of spring/shock kits out there some better than others, they vary quite a lot.

Suprisingly enough my dash doesnt rattle at all, and thats with firm koni shockers. My parcel shelf sometimes squeaks, but thats all.

It has 40mm lowering springs, but is probably more especially on the back. This is becasue of the shock absorbers I used.
