Strange phenomenon

Post by polokaj »

Well i've been having idling problems with my 6n 1.4 16V. so i bought some carb cleaner and sprayed it into the throttle body all seems fine still needs a proper test drive. But while reving the engine i noticed if i let the car idle and just tap the throttle pedal the car would rev to 2000 rpm and stay there without my foot on the pedal, then if you tap it again it settles back to normal anyone explain this or is it my worst fear that my throttle bodys gone and i need to replace it.

Thanks
Az

i had the problem a while back - i took the airbox off and shifted all the dirt out and gave the cable a clean up, sprayed some WD-40 (seems i use this alot lol ) and pressed the accelerator cable a few times with the engine off - hope that helps you :D

you might have left some dirt somewhere on your throttle body that is making it stick open
