Hot weather???

Post by Mk2Adam »

driving into work yesterday and at the traffic lights just before my work there seemed to be a large amount of steam and hissing coming from under my bonnet

drove it round the corner into work, popped the bonnet to find 1 of the coolant pipes had split and was spitting boiling hot water everywhere  .

i had nothing on me at the time so all i could do was leave it there, went to halfords today and got a lil bandage hose kit and put that on there today and seems fine.

went to my vw dealers to get a new hose and it's £35???!!! for about 6 inches of rubber because it's rare and perrishable apparently (crooks  )

anyway hopefully i'll have the hose 2moro so i can swap that over and my car will be back on the road :D only hoping it hasn't had any affect on the other parts e.g head gasket.

seems to drive fine though with just the pipe taped up

awww poo, i'd already paid for it, although i'll have a look at my other hoses and see if any are on their way out, as if this hose went the others are bound to go soon too.

i know for a fact theres a split in my breather hose since i got it but i've just left it as everyone says they don't matter anyway.

i'll have a look tomorrow then :D

My polo runs very cool, rarely ever turning its radiator fan on even in this extreme hot weather, I reckon its because it has got good quality clean oil and ive flushed the cooling system 3 times during my ownership

Anyways the only thing ive noticed the hot weather do to my car is that there's slightly less power when compared to when its running in cold air and its slightly harder to start when hot :(

Anyone else having similar issues like myself in this hot weather?
